But the clanging of my own heart
And no one tells me what to be
When I’m banging out a work of art
Feel for the reason
Spreading out its roots
Into the soft
Earth of your heart

it’s all upon me, I’ll take the blame
but you could take it just the same
it makes no difference in the end
an enemy’s as good as a friend
I think I’m getting close
To the heart of what matters most
But just a glimpse and it slips away
Falls back into the grey

Bird gets to sing
